Web Site Introduction

Information on this website is derived from various governmental departments within the City of Knoxville, Knox County and the "Knoxville Utilities Board (K.U.B.), who together have created a centralized “geographic information system”: KGIS.

New 1935 Aerial Photography added to KGIS KnoxNetWhere
1935 Aerial Photos of Knoxville have been added to the Aerial Photo and the USGS Quads Themes. To access it, you will want to change the Theme (above) to the AERIAL PHOTO THEME, and then (in the Layer list) toggle on the “Aerial Photo 1935” layer, and toggle off the “Aerial Photo 2007”. Then as a final step, click on the REFRESH MAP box at the bottom of the Layer List. And “Shazam!”: your map should now display the 1935 photography. (Note however, that the 1935 photography does not cover rural Knox County.)
