Below is a key to some of the information that is displayed for certain cases:

Filter by Case Status

MPC Cases are heard at MPC meetings that occur on the second Thursday of every month. "Active cases" are those that will be heard at the upcoming MPC meeting and will be available for display on the map no later than 13 days before the meeting. Please note that some active case may be postponed to a later MPC meeting date. A list of these postponed cases can be obtained here roughly two days before the meeting.

To display only the active cases on the map, select "Active Cases" from the drop-down menu. To display inactive cases on the map, select "InActive Cases" from the drop-down menu. Select "All Cases" to show both active and inactive cases.

Year 2000 Filter

The Year 2000 filter allows you to control whether cases before or after the year 2000 are shown. This option is provided to help reduce map clutter.  The case status filter must bet set to 'Inactive Cases' or 'All Cases' before you can use this filter.  To show MPC cases from 1/1/2000 to present, select 'Post 2000'.  To display cases prior to 1/1/2000, select 'Pre 2000'. To view all cases in the database, select æAll CasesÆ.

Note: this filter applies to the date on which the case first appeared on a meeting agenda. The case may have been postponed one or more times and heard by MPC at a later date.

Filter by Case Dates

Important Notes

The "Filter by Case Dates" panel allows you to display MPC cases that were approved or denied during a specified time period. First, use the "Date Type" drop-down menu to specify if you would like to view cases that were approved or denied by MPC. Next, the "Date Operator" drop-down menu allows you to specify if you like to view cases on, before, after or between the date(s) that you will enter in the next step. Finally, enter the appropriate date(s) into the remaining text boxes.

The example below would display all cases approved by MPC on the April 9, 2009 meeting.

The example below would display all MPC cases approved after January 1, 2008.

The next example would display all cases denied by MPC between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2005.

To clear all filters, click the "Clear Filters" button.

1 Some Final Plat cases prior to April 2001 are available, but these cases aren't consistently available until April 2001

2 Many Other Business cases pertain to matters that cannot be mapped, such as approval of MPC budget and the addition of new zoning class in the Knox County Zoning Ordinance.

If an MPC case disposition is not available for a certain time period, the case boundary will not be displayed on the map when using this "Filter by Case Dates" panel. For example, if you query the database for Use on Review cases approved after January 1985, the only Use on Review cases that will be displayed on the map are those that were approved after January 1992. However, if you clear this Case Dates query Use on Review cases occurring before January 1992 will be displayed on the map (assuming that no other filters have been set).
