Address Information:
Addresses are assigned and maintained by the Knoxville/Knox County Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) in accordance with the Uniform Street Naming and Addressing System Ordinance adopted in 1990 by the Knoxville City Council and the Knox County Commission. An explanation of the address information is shown below.

Site Address: This is the official MPC property or site address. Addresses can be assigned to properties, structures (i.e. Cell Towers); or unit(s) within structures (i.e. apartments, office buildings). A single property may have multiple site or property addresses assigned to it. Many properties have NO address assigned as signified by NA. Properties are assigned an address when a building permit is issued. The site or property address may differ from the mailing address of the owner.
Address Type: Indicates the type of structure or property to which the address is assigned. Possible types are:
  • Apt
  • Business
  • Church
  • Condo
  • School
  • Unknown
  • Site Name: Reflects the name associated with the site. This is most commonly used to indicate a business name (i.e. McDonalds)
