Hello all,

We are embarking on the process to begin a local GIS user network for the East Tennessee area, focusing on the counties in the East Tennessee Development District’s service area, roughly centered on Knoxville.  This is an opportunity to discuss topics pertinent to all of our organizations.

The upcoming meeting is the fourth meeting, and will be held on Dec. 4th, 2007 at 11:30 AM.

The hope for the GeoNET is to gain a better understanding of what other GIS professionals in the area are doing, cover topics of mutual interest, plan a yearly trade show/meeting, talk about software issues, and listen to presentations from members and vendors.  Our first meeting was mostly organizational, and it was decided that a local user group would be a good resource for GIS professionals in our area.

Our plan is to have bi-monthly meetings, and to increase the frequency if necessary.

  • The meeting location will be:
  • Tuesday, Dec. 4th, 2007 at 11:30 AM
  • Knoxville-McGhee Tyson Airport
  • Alcoa, TN
  • Third Floor, Community Room
