MPC’s Proposed Hillside and Ridgetop Protection Area Theme Added
MPC has added the proposed Hillside and Ridgetop Protection Areas to each of KGIS's interactive mapping websites: KnoxNetWhere , KGIS Lite and MPC Case Mapping.
These maps will enable residents to determine whether all or portions of their property falls within the Hillside Protection Area through searches by address, parcel ID number or owner name.map will enable residents to determine whether all or portions of their property falls within the Hillside Protection Area through searches by address, parcel ID number or owner name.

To view the plan within
KnoxNetWhere, select the “MPC Proposed Hillside Protection Plan” theme from the list of themes in top, right-hand corner of the webpage. To search for a property via address, select “Search” link on the top of the site and then click “Search by Address”.
To view the plan within KGIS Lite, select the "MPC Proposed Hillside Protection Plan" from the Map Theme drop-down list on the blue-colored toolbar.
MPC notes that adoption of the plan itself will have no effect on the rights of property owners to utilize or develop their parcels as permitted under their existing zoning, and that no regulations would be enacted by the adoption of this plan. Property owners whose parcel falls within the Proposed Hillside and Ridgetop Protection Area that are planning to seek rezoning of their property to allow more intensive development can contact MPC to learn more about how adoption of the plan could modify the practice of determining the recommended number of dwelling units for proposed subdivisions.
The Hillside and Ridgetop Protection Plan, which was adopted by the Metropolitan Planning Commission on December 9, is currently under consideration by the Knoxville City Council and Knox County Commission. More information about the plan is available on the MPC website,
