This page is designed to provide access to Maps and GIS Resources pertaining to COVID-19 pandemic, especially to those related to Knoxville and Knox County. In general, KGIS directs everyone to consult the Knox County Health Department website for the latest, and most authortative guidance.
KGIS has created a new Public WiFi Theme in the COVID-19 Services & Resources Map showcasing those locations at which the public can gain access to free WiFi from the safe distance and comfort of their cars. As of April 22, 2020, there are six different sites available (all of which are at the Knox County Senior Centers). As more sites become available, KGIS will add those to this same map theme. Click HERE more information about the Knox County Senior Center WiFi access program. Note that the COVID-19 Services & Resources Map has several different "layers" (such as COVID testing sites), each of which can be toggled on/off (via the Map Layers panel...see image below).
In partnership with the Knox County Health Department and KEMA, the KGIS Office has designed a COVID-19 Resources & Services Map to promote some of the available services (and resources) for citizens of Knoxville and Knox County during this pandemic emergency. KGIS relies upon information from other agencies and departments, but in particular upon the advise and counsel of the Knox County Health Department and the Knoxville Emergency Managament Agency (KEMA). KGIS welcomes any feedback regarding out-of-date or erroneous information presented on this site (Email us at kgis@kgis.org).
The map currently shows four different service categories: Appointment Only Testing, Youth Food Locations, PPE Donation Sites and Public WiFi Sites. Users of this interactive map might choose to visit the generic Services & Resources Map, or optionally, link directly to one of the specific categories (or "themes"). (see below hyperlinks). Each Theme "toggles" on/off layers of information to provide a more focused view of services on the map. As new service categories ("themes") are added to the map, KGIS will accordingly provide direct hyperlinks to those new themes.
Visit KGIS's COVID-19 GIS Maps & Resources page for more news and links to COVID-related GIS sites.
The Knoxville Tree Inventory viewer shows the location and information for the city trees, also you can request a tree be planted at a specific location and send your comments about one of the city trees. To view the trees on the Knoxville Tree Inventory viewer click here.
Several precinct boundary changes and new voting location changes have been announced by the Knox County Election Commission. Click HERE for the more information, including maps courtesy WBIR. A new 2016 Aerial (Preliminary) map theme has been added to KGIS Maps. Since these aerials are preliminary, by-products of the Spring 2016 Knox County Property Assessor project with EagleView - Pictometry , they don't quite meet the product standards of past KGIS aerial products. Therefore, instead of replacing the default Aerial Theme (which is still vintage 2014), the preliminary aerials are located under the Historical Aerials category of Map themes (see image).
