KGIS turns 40 years old this August!!! Our "computerized mapping system" was initially formed back in August 1985 via a Tri-Party Agreement amongst the City of Knoxville, Knox County and Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB). Since that time, we've adopted our formal name ("Knoxville - Knox County - KUB Geographic Information System") and grown to include many new partners, but the mission remains the same:  to provide "coordinated geographic information management" for the City, County, and KUB.

In recognition of this anniversary, the Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs has graciously issued a PROCLAMATION to recognize August 15, 2025 as KGIS Appreciation Day and to publicly recognize KGIS's 40th Anniversary. CLICK HERE for His Honor's Proclamation.

And the City of Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon has also graciously issued a PROCLAMATION to recognize KGIS's 40 years of service. CLICK HERE for Her Honor's Proclamation.

Some photos from this occasion can be found on the 40th Year Anniversary webpage

THANK YOU to all of those who have supported this KGIS organization over these past 40 years. On we go.....
